The Technology Behind Nugget.

A free, open-source desktop tool that brings powerful iOS customization to your device without the compromises of traditional jailbreaking.

What is Nugget?

Nugget is a desktop application for Windows and macOS that lets you customize system-level aspects of your iPhone or iPad that Apple normally keeps locked down. Unlike traditional jailbreaking, Nugget works by precisely modifying specific configuration files while keeping your device's security architecture completely intact.

With Nugget, you can enable Dynamic Island on older iPhones, apply animated wallpapers to your lock screen, customize your status bar, activate Apple Intelligence on unsupported hardware, and control background system services — all without voiding your warranty or compromising device security.

How Does It Work?

Nugget uses a technique called SparseRestore to make surgical modifications to your device. This approach leverages the iOS backup and restore pipeline to write specific configuration files without affecting the broader operating system or security model.

Deep Technical Focus

The primary target is a file called MobileGestalt, which stores hardware capability flags and device configuration settings. By modifying specific values in this file, Nugget can enable features that Apple has gated behind device model or iOS version checks.

Because Nugget doesn't alter the core operating system, install persistent code, or modify the kernel, all changes are cleanly reversible. A standard iOS update or iTunes/Finder restore will remove all modifications automatically.

The Developer

Nugget was created by leminlimez, a respected developer in the iOS research community known for building innovative, user-friendly customization tools. The project is fully open source on GitHub, allowing complete code transparency and community contribution.

Safety & Security Guarantees

Nugget is engineered with safety as the top priority. Unlike jailbreaking, Nugget does NOT:

Disable iOS security features or sandbox protections

Install any persistent modifications to the operating system

Allow execution of unsigned or unauthorized code

Block your ability to receive future iOS updates

Void your Apple warranty (all changes are non-permanent)

Whether you're running iOS 17 or iOS 26, every modification can be completely reversed at any time through Nugget itself or a standard system restore.

Community

Nugget has a vibrant, active community of users sharing tips, custom wallpapers, troubleshooting advice, and creative setups. Join to get the most out of your customized device:
